The RAJU VEGESNA – AISTA Senior National Tennis tournament was held 3rd – 8th March 2008 at the SDAT Tennis Stadium, Chennai. The tournament was organized and conducted by Pro-Tennis Initiative.

The inauguration was a momentous affair. Hon’ble TPM Mohideen Khan, Minister for Environment and Sports, Government of TamilNadu inaugurated the tournament and Shri Raju Vegesna, CEO & MD, Sify Technologies Limited presided.

Shri Ajit Kumbhat, renowned Chartered Accountant and Associate Secretary, A M Jain College and Shri Ramesh Krishnan, former Indian Davis Cup Captain were the Special Invitees.

The tournament was for the age categories 45+, 55+ and 65+. The tournament carried total prize money of Rs.5.0 Lakhs and was fully sponsored by Sify Technologies Limited. The tournament received an encouraging response from across the country with almost 200 participants fighting for top honors.

The finals were played on 8th March 2008. The prizes were distributed by C.V.S. Soori, COO, Sify Technologies Limited and Ramesh Krishnan.

This was the first time an AISTA event was held in Chennai and this would not have been possible without the support received from the TamilNadu Tennis Association (TNTA) and the Sports Development Authority of TamilNadu (SDAT).
